NORTH HILLS, NY - The Village of North Hills is pleased to announce the establishment of a new Bureau of Environmental Protection (BEP) to address environmental concerns and sustainability efforts within the village.

The Bureau of Environmental Protection will be responsible for overseeing environmental permits, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. The BEP will also lead the village's sustainability initiatives to preserve our natural resources and enhance the quality of life for all residents.

"Environmental protection is a critical priority for our village," said Mayor Marvin Natiss. "The creation of the Bureau of Environmental Protection demonstrates our commitment to preserving our natural resources and ensuring sustainable development for future generations."

Dr. Eleanor Green has been appointed as the Director of Environmental Protection and will lead the department. Dr. Green brings extensive experience in environmental science and policy, having previously served as an environmental consultant for several municipalities across Long Island.

"I am honored to serve as the first Director of Environmental Protection for the Village of North Hills," said Dr. Green. "Our team is committed to protecting our village's natural beauty while balancing the needs of our residents and businesses."

The Bureau of Environmental Protection has launched a new online portal for environmental permit applications, making it easier for residents and contractors to submit and track their applications. The department has also published guidelines for various activities requiring environmental permits, including tree removal, wetland work, stormwater management, and land clearing.

Residents can visit the Bureau of Environmental Protection page on the village website for more information about permits, regulations, and department services. The environmental permit application form is now available for download on the department's page.

The Bureau of Environmental Protection office is located in Village Hall and will be open during regular business hours. Residents can contact the department at (516) 627-3795 or by email at bep@villageofnorthhills.com.
